Utility Lot Well
Project Scope:
Project details include the complete construction of a new water utility pump station for the Evergreen Water and Sewer District. Components of the work entailed, installation of 10” and 12” PVC water main and connection to 2 existing water well casings. Complete new construction of the Pump station building comprising of backup generator, well pump motor and VFD controls, SCADA and fiber optic controls, and process piping ranging from 2” to 18” ductile iron. Other items included single phase and three phase power installation, 2 125HP submerisible pump installation, 18” ductile iron tie-in connection to existing 14” water main, 700 LF fiber optic bore, landscape and paving.

Utility Service’s
Rehab Project
Project Scope:
Project entailed installation of 2 new domestic water services and a new sewer service to the Ray of Hope Rehabilitation Center in downtown, Kalispell. Work envolved saw cut and removal of existing asphalt, exposing the public water main and taping in 2 new domestic water lines. Additionally, Strods Contracting was required to expose an existing clay tile pipe sewer main and connect a new 4” sewer service while working under a high pressure 8” gas main. Final portions of work included asphalt preparations, abandonment of 2 existing water services and reclamation.

Dock Restoration
& Site improvement
Project Scope:
Removal of existing 60’x8’ steel floating dock and drilling 7 24” diameter piers with castings to depth of over 25’. Installed 14” steel piles and encase in concrete. Complete design and construction of new 60’x8’ aluminum dock with new 20’x5’ aluminum gangway. Sitework, import and placement of 3” ballast rock for shoreline erosion mitigation.

Mass Excavation, Pond &
Stream Construction
Project Scope:
Construct 4,800 LF of the Spain Ferris Ditch Lateral, including excavation and construction of two 1 acre infiltration ponds, placement of topsoil, haul off of excess soils, placement of geotextiles and import and placement of 1100 cy of Class II rip rap. Due to a late contract award date, and the need for the ditch to be operational for water flows May 1st, Strods Contracting worked nonstop on an accelerated schedule to complete the project on time and within budget.

Site demolition
and reconstruction
Project Scope:
Demolish, remove and reconstruct the subgrade for placement of new ADA compliant sidewalks and ramps for the current Glacier Bank headquarters in downtown Kalispell. Work included demolition and removal of 4,449 SF of existing concrete sidewalk, subexcavation and haul off of all subgrade materials, installation of 326 LF of 6” rain drain piping with cleanouts and connection to existing curb inlets, excavation and backfill of new foundation for addition to building, installation of frost protection foam board, and import and placement of base gravels to grade. With the project located in the heart of downtown Kalispell, and section of the project occurring along the side of MDT HWY 93, Strods Contracting performed the work with limited work space, and restricted overhead clearances. Public safety on site was paramount and factored in to all aspects of the project. Due to the site also being an active banking institution, portions of the work was required to be completed in an accelerated fashion to ensure minimal disruption to banking operations.

Specialty
Construction
Project Scope:
Specialty project located on the Sykes Building Vault, located at one of the busiest building corners in Downtown Kalispell. Initial design and constructed as a lighted vault allowing for natural light to access the buildings basement ballroom, Strods Contracting was tasked with removing the deteriorating glass tiled sidewalk panels and enclose the vault located under the busy sidewalk. Work entailed demolition on interior finishes within the vault, demolition and removal of three 8’ x 11’ x 10” thick concrete and glass tiled slabs, procurement and installation of two 12’x16’x6” thick precast concrete panels, import and placement of structural backfill, and finish grading for cast in place concrete sidewalks. Unique challenges to the project was limited site space and overhead room due to the adjacent building and busy roadway intersection. Additional safety measures were also implemented due to the work taking place around a highly trafficked public building.

Demolition
Project Scope:
Demo and haul off debris from a section of storage units that were destroyed in a fire. The scope of work entailed, removal of all storage unit contents, containment, sorting and haul off to designated disposal sites, followed by dismantling of structural steel and metal components of the storage units and haul off for recycling. The location was a tight and crew were required to maintain access to surrounding units at all times.

Project Scope:
Construct a 30x50 pole barn style shop for Montana Department of Transportation. Due to the location, and high 140 PSI snow loading, the structure was comprised of individual 48” diameter sono tub foundations, 6”x12”x24’ timber post framing, followed by traditional framing, and sheeting. Despite the remote location, the Strods Contracting team worked around MDT crews to complete the project on time, and within budget.

Project Scope:
Construction of a new 2500 square foot single family home. The Strods Contracting team provided budgeting and assisted in the design of the home as well as oversaw all permitting and design review, subcontractor vetting and selection. Strods Contracting also self performed all excavation, utilities, and site work, while maintaining scheduling and coordination of remaining subcontractors and suppliers. The scope of work also included oversight of all design changes, review of quality control and compliance, finish selections, and cost management through completion.
